Patriot Outreach — Recommended by Phyllis Zimbler Miller of Films That Support Our Troops, this organization offers confidential and effective help with anger, stress, pain, combat stress, and PTSD.
The Soliders Project — This project was launched by our one and only Dr. Judith Broder, the psychiatrist who appears in the film. The purpose of the center is to provide counseling and support to military service members who have served or who expect to serve in the Iraq and/or Afghanistan conflicts and to veterans of those conflicts. The therapists are all volunteers and the services they offer are completely confidential and free of cost.
Transitioning Veteran — A page dedicated to helping veterans who have or are in the process of separating from the military and who are looking for information on veteran benefits. The wiki page provides loads of useful links and information on education, work and medical benefits, as well as other veteran-related topics.
Veterans Healing Initiative – Provides sponsorship funding for veterans in need of treatment for Substance Abuse (SA) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Also raises funds for funds for licensed existing treatment centers across the country that provide evidence-based, best practices, dual diagnosis treatment for SA and PTSD and have developed a dedicated veterans treatment track.
Warrior Cry — This organization works with injured soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital. They are a group of volunteers who teach soldiers how to play and record music. It is a great form of physical and mental therapy. As they state on their website: “Music is good for the mind, body and soul.”
Families & Friends
Gift from Within — a non-profit organization dedicated to those who suffer post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), those at risk for PTSD, and those who care for traumatized individuals; develops and disseminates educational material, including videotapes, articles, books, and other resources through its website; maintains a roster of survivors who are willing to participate in an international network of peer support.

Give an Hour — A non profit organization offering free mental health services to U.S. military personnel and families affected by the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
